On October 2nd, we celebrated the Feast Day of St. Dionysios Areopagites, patron saint of judges and lawyers. This year, His Eminence Metropolitan Nathanael of Chicago and the Hellenic Bar Association of Illinois presented the St. Dionysios Areopagites Distinguished Service Award to HBA Director George Lattas for his dedication and service to the community of Sts. Constantine and Helen.
St. Dionysios Areopagites was a judge serving on the Supreme Court in Athens, during the first century. He was a convert to Christianity. Accordingly, the St. Dionysios Areopagites award honors those who have provided extraordinary legal service to the Hellenic Orthodox community and expanded access to justice to the underserved.
The HBA would like to thank its External Relations Co-Chairs, Dimitra Anderson and the Hon. Frank J. Andreou, along with the community of Sts. Constantine and Helen for organizing this beautiful event.
All monies raised at the sponsored coffee hour was donated to Hel.LAS in honor of George Lattas. AXIOS!
